The movie adapted from comics is different from the animated film. It is based on comic book, and its impersonators are human beings. In recent years, because of the tremendous commercial success, the movie adapted from comics begins to attract people's attention. Naturally, in the Hong Kong movies which always have all-embracing themes, there are movies adapted from comics. And this article is selecting these movies to study. This article is divided into three parts. The first chapter is talking about the source of comics. It focuses on the comics as the source of most movies adapted from comics, and emphasizes Hong Kong comics. The second chapter studys 35 Hong Kong movies adapted from comics from 1990 to 2009, combining the characteristics of the Hong Kong movie since the 1990s. And these movies are divided into two parts. One part is rarely associated with the original comics, though these movies are adapted from comics. Regardless of whether the copyright issues are involved, this part of the movies has almost used some creativiyies of the original comics which was hardly related in the movie publicity; The other part is closely linked with the original comics, even if some of these movies told very different stories from the original comics, they are still labeled as movies adaped from comics. Then the article says that the star and special effects can almost be general features of Hong Kong movies adapted from comics. The last chapter compares the movie adapted from comics in Hong Kong to it in Japan and Hollywood. From the comparison with Japan who is a country famous for comics and Hollywood who is rich in comic hero blockbusters, you can see that Hong Kong movies adapted from comics can not be classified into an independent and competitive film type. However, if the content can gets strengthen while the visual effects get stick to, adapting comics to movies still has a broad development space.
