With the development of modern society, the importance of health has been paid the increasingly attention. The relationship between personality and health has been recognized for a relatively long time, especially the personality of neuroticism which represents the way of how people experience, evaluate, react to negative feelings, such as anxiety, angry, guilty, depression and so on, and the stability tendency of their corresponding actions. Numerous of studies have confirmed this relationship but there is few ones work on this subject through a meta-analysis approach. The same situation happens in China that most of Chinese researches rely on the neuroticism sub subscale in personality scale from other countries in a non- empirical way.Study lintergated papers about neuroticism and mental health in recent ten years through a meta-analysis approach, and found that there exists a relatively consistent outcome in this field which indicates a high correlation between symptoms of neuroticism and mental health. In study 2, the main work was to establish the questionnaire of undergraduate's neuroticism. We finished the draft of the undergraduate's neuroticism questionnaire on the base of the construction of a preliminary ideas about dimensions of neuroticism which include anxiety, depression, irritability, impulsive and sensitive, and took 380 as our subjects. Finally we analyzed the 325 valid data in the way of exploratory factor analysis and extracted five factors. Further efforts have done on these factors in order to modify the dimensions. Finally, it makes five factors:sensitve, which refers to get depressed and feel upset easily; anxiety, which refers to feel nervous, worry easily when coping stress; angry, which refers to feel hostility and easily get bad temper; calm and postive, which refers to a personality trait always be calm, postive and easily to overcome troubles and be in a peace mood; impulsive, which refers to a personality that easily to be exciting and hard to control their desire. The final questionnaire includes 34 items. There will be a validity inspection before formal implementation of the questionnaire. We have sent out 1000 paper and have 898 valid questionnaires back. In the index of construct validity indicated that the undergraduate's neuroticism questionnaire structural equation modeling fitting well, and have a high correlation with BFI-N. The evaluation of criterion validity in the approach of the symptoms index of mental health from UPI, GHQ, SAS and SDS, the actively orientation index of mental health from subjective well-being and life satisfaction and the self-assessment index of physical health, and found that these is relatively high correlations between these indexes and neuroticism which means a relatively strong criterion validityStudy 3 analyzed the relationship between neuroticism and mental health of undergraduate students, and found that there exist significant differences in gender and geographical but not in major and grade. We constructed the structural equation modeling of neuroticism and mental health of undergraduate students which indicated that neuroticism effects on mental health directly and effects on physical health through mental health as an intermediary variable, and came to the conclusion that neuroticism can be a good predictor of physical health and mental health.
