The Comparison Research Of Color Terms In Chinese And Thai

This paper based on the theory of the contrastive linguistics, mainly compares and analyzes the color terms in Chinese and Thai in the following aspects:characteristic of formation; associative-meanings of eight common basic color terms; differences of cultural connotation as follows:daily life, religion, mythology, social events, ideology, the color worship and taboo.This paper aims revealing the differences and similarities of color terms in Chinese and Thai and the relationship between language and culture. It can facilitate the teaching of the color terms in the two languages, the disposal of the color terms in the edit of bilingual dictionary, and the interpretation of color terms.
