From the very beginning, in "I Am a Cat" he shows that he detested the world and its ways. Then he advocate of egotistic. And he changed from being egotistic to illustrating his way of individualism. Next he put forward to use the divine power to clarify the evil things existing in human nature. These were all Natsume'changes of thinking happened in his life time. People in the Meiji period inevitably felt confused because the Meiji policy of intending to take Europeanization Way of" Becoming Civilized "which in turn put the whole society in the situation of traditionally oriental culture and the western values disorderly tangled with each other. To Natsume Soseki, his creation track came through the change from describing the romantic but world which is different from the one in naturalism to accepting the critical reality. In the process of gradually learning the western culture in order to seek the true identity of modern Japan, he brought about the thought that human was born selfish. Then he improved his theory system step by step to establish Natsume Soseki Individualism. After that, he sensed that his Individualism was unfeasible in reality when he created more writings. After being in despair for a certain time, he finally figured out that he could seek help from the traditionally oriental culture. That is to find his relief in the ethical way, applying the divine power to clarify the evil things existing in human nature.This paper is constituted by four parts. The first part is a general introduction, introducing the life stories of Natsume Soseki, his literary works and the existing research concerning Natsume Soseki. The second part is based on the background when Natsume was still in Britain, illustrating the process how Natsume Soseki got the thinking the importance of egotistic. The third part makes a general comment on the works of Natsume Soseki and analyzes his works, thus expressing the connotation of the Natsume Soseki Individualism which tried to smooth the conflict between the oriental and western culture. The forth part mainly focuses on analyzing his Chinese poems. These Chinese poems reveal the formation of his ideological thinking of using divine spirit to clarify evil things existing in human mind after his Individualism was found unfeasible under the circumstance of harsh reality. What's more. the connection between this thought and the traditional Chinese Zhuzi (Neutralization) Theory was further studied is in this part.
