Research Of The Traditional Woodcarving Board Decorative Art And The Application In Modern Home Design

In recent years, with the national strength of China enhanced, persons pay more and more attention to Chinese material and non-material cultural heritage. Traditional culture and art must get inheritance and development, but how to inherit and promote the traditional culture is every art researcher's unshirkable responsibility. So, we must learn more in depth on the history and culture of the Chinese nation, research folk art forms, deeply understand its artistic culture and use modern design concept to a refined, reorganization, and design a suitable excogitation for contemporary Chinese art form. Traditional woodcarving board decorative art as a kind of folk art form, would inevitably lead to the attention of scholars in China.As an important part of ancient architectural culture decoration art, traditional woodcarving board decorative art has long history and rich culture meaning in China. Traditional woodcarving board has been used extensively in Chinese architecture and interior decoration. It used in door and window, apron board, sparrow brace, hanging fascia, beam and fang, door heads, spier, window lattice, as well as roof plate in bed, dental lamina in bench, backrest handrail in chair and so on.In this paper, the author maked a systematic study on the traditional woodcarving board decorative art by the way of site-investigation and reading related information, studying of the multi-subject. During the course of writing, the methods of case surveying, making example, analyzing and generalizing were adopted. In order to study it, this article introduced traditional woodcarving board from its history, wooding craft, carving contents, materials. Through analysis of the style of woodcarving decorative patterns, this article divided into landscape and customs, auspicious animals, human figures and so on, and discovered cultural implication include Confucianism, Buddhism thought, Taoism thought, which is behind of carving decorative pattern. This paper has made innovations by presenting an in-depth study on carving contents and materials, and discussed the possibility of this art using in the modern home interior design with analysis the home interior designing case. And this research has filed the gaps of the study on traditional woodcarving board decorative art.
