Since the new century, Novels on migrant workers have formed a creative boom. This thesis, with novels of this theme as the main object and the Cultural Identity in the Diaspora as a theoretical basis, mainly discusses the migrant workers' cultural identity.This paper consists of five parts:Introduction, Chapter One, Chapter Two, Chapter Three and Peroration.In Introduction section, Novels on migrant workers in the new century, as the object studied in this paper, will be defined. Related concepts will be illustrated, and an overview of the idea of this research paper will also be given in this section.Chapter One discusses from the urban scene that the cultural identity of migrant workers who are in the urban fringe. Institutionally, although migrant workers are living and working in the city, they are not entitled to the right of urban residents. Spiritually, unfamiliar urban environment makes them lack a sense of belonging. Besides, a low social status and more vulnerable sex reinforce their feelings of marginalization.Chapter Two elaborates from the rural scene that migrant workers are also marginalized in rural area. Although migrant workers come to the city, decades of living and working experience from rural area makes them feel a great gap between themselves and the city, which keeps them from integrating themselves into the city; while after being hurt too much by the city, they try to return home to seek the good memories, but urban experience makes them not be able to return to their hometown mentally. They lose their spiritual homeland, and fall into a rootless wandering.Chapter Three reveals migrant workers'double marginalized identity between urban and rural area is not only a reflection of the writers' own life experience in the city, who are descendants of migrant fanners, but also a concern of the writers from the city about the problems existing in social transformation period bring migrant workers feelings without home spiritually.Epilogue concluded novels on migrant workers contributed to China's social transformation of contemporary literary figures of the unique image from the literature value, but the problems of modelization of creation and the suffering can not be neglected.
