Pipa Story and Medea are two famous Chinese and Western dramas , the author will appeal ethical ideal and thoughts about life by "at the beginning and deserts abandon" Social and family tragedy. The two have great comparability. Comparison of the two dramas can help us understand the differences between Chinese and western drama aesthetic characteristics .This paper first through the text rewrite, from the overall Comparison aesthetic characteristics differences of two dramas, then respectively through characters molding,conflicts processing and theme exploration specific carding and compared the three aspects of aesthetic characteristics of the drama. Pipa character image shows implicative, feminine and advocating self-sacrifice aesthetic characteristics; but Medea character image shows exposed, masculine and pursuit of self-worth and aesthetic characteristics. Pipa conflict processing shows the beauty of neutralization drama; but Medea conflict processing shows the beauty of noble drama. Pipa aesthetic value through the " Still good " of the subject shown; but Medea aesthetic value through the " seeking truth" theme shown.As for the reason of two dramas aesthetic characteristics difference, Chinese and western culture can be traced back to the difference of the origin,value orientation,way of thinking and cultural essence. Through the pipa and Medea comparison, will help us realize: Chinese and western drama cultural although each into system,but which sends out a brilliant splendor.
