The Beauty Of Article: Feiming's Fiction And Chinese Traditional Style Of Writing

In Chinese modern literary variation, Feiming was a writer independent in mind and action. The early days of the 20th century is the period in which the cultural collision between the west and the east was in the most fierce state.In this period, anti-tradition and anti-culture have become universal in social mentality. However, living in such a cultural background, Feiming turned around, returned to tradition, and selected a unique road which is different from the mainstream of Chinese modern literature.As a local writer, Feiming's work isn't alike the prevalent local literature. He has depicted the look of the rural areas with calm eyes, and replaced critical foresight with the purpose of showing the beauty of life and human beings. Meanwhile, Feiming was celebrated for his obscure language in fiction. His efforts in the research of diction and literature style were also of great value. Feiming's literary choice is another valuable choice which keep a long way from the mainstream of Chinese modern literature. Furthermore, this choice has been connected with tradition. Owing to the traditional element in modern language environment, Feiming's work has been enveloped with dense modernism.This paper is intended to discuss the beauty of article that Feiming's fiction showing, and the relationship between Feiming's fiction and the Chinese traditional styles of writing. This paper is composed of the following parts:The first part is the introduction part, mainly explains the subject's background and sense, and approaches the reason why Feiming's fiction has been connected with Chinese traditional styles of writing. And then, it explains and defines the term "article" which was referred to in this paper.The second part is composed of four chapters. The former three chapters discuss the traditional literary styles of Feiming's fiction, starting with the following three styles respectively.The first is the brief and implicit style. Feiming's early stage fiction with traditional articles in simple language presents the Implicit beauty. The second is the obscure and odd style. Because of unique style, strange language and obscure allusions, Feiming's late fiction presents the beauty of "obscurity", just like "Jingling" fictions style.The last is the broad-minded and plain style. Because of his plain style, plain fluency, and completely being out of obscurity, Fei Ming's late fiction displays the beauty of being broad-minded.The fourth chapter discusses Feiming's thoughts of article and reveals the elements which affected Feiming's thoughts of article.The last part is the conclusion part, summarizing the whole paper. Meanwhile, it ponders over the tradition and reverse-tradition which were shown in "the beauty of article" of Feiming's fiction.
