Hope And Nihility

As two of the initiators of modern novels in China, Yu Dafu together with Lu Xun lead the fulfillment of the modernization of Chinese novels. In his novel writing, Yu Dafu difficultly kept independent in mind and action in expressing his life experiences. Taking detailed reading as the main method and exploration of mental wanderers'mental processes as the point of penetration, this thesis studies novels of Yu Dafu wholly and systematically in three ways:First, restlessly moving emotion situation. Emotional writing is the external property of Yu's writings. Restless moving is the nature of actors in his stories as well as their main structure. In addition, it characterises the languages used in the novel charply.Second, internal exposure of the image of "search". The exposure of the true nature of one's life is the gist of Yu's writings. The image of "search" is the internal exposure, the soul of mental wanderers.Third, emptiness is the inscribed meaning. Emptiness is the absolute destination of modern search and the implicature of Yu's novels.Yu's writings gave a royal record of the mental processes of mental wanderers and is a history of modern Chinese's hearts. By thorough study of Yu's novels, we can get a introspection of mental modernization of the Chinese.
