A Research On Jin Yong's Editorials

Jin Yong is not only a prestigious swordsman novelist from home and abroad, but also is a famous journalist in Hong Kong. He persisted in writing an editorial for Ming Pao every day for almost half a century. The purpose of this study was to reasearch Jin Yong's editorials, the author wish it can have a more comprehensive understanding of Jin Yong's achievements in the press.This dissertation takes Jin Yong's editorials from Ming Pao of the 1960s to the early 1990s as the main research object. Use historial documents,magazines and journals to support the author's ideas or thesis. According to the basic elements of news commentary and taking the text analyzing and case study as the main methods, to analyse the topic selection, making points, arguing measure, style of writing of Jin Yong's editorials. And it contacts with Jin's personal experiences and Hong Kong media environment and the social environment of mainland, In order to generalize the characteristics and influence of Jin Yong's editorials. To conclude the spirit connotation of Jin's editorials and journalism through analyzing internal and external causes.This dissertation is mainly divided into 4 parts.The first part concerns Jin's experience in journalism and his contribution on commentary circle. Part two concentrates on analyzing Jin's editorials. The author generalizes the characteristics of Jin's editorials through the topic selection, attitude, etc to analyse the the text and finds out the reasons why his editorials are so popular. Part three analyses the writing style of Jin's editorials to expound its writing characteristics under the journalism angle of view. Part four difscusses how those characteristics of his editorials formed. The author probes the internal and external causes.The part of conclusion, the author summarizes the core ideas and paper highlights of this study, combined with the status and trend of newspaper comments in Mainland China then points out it's reference.The author thinks that, Jin's charming personality,pursuing the journalism continually,unattached commentary position and strong resposibility for the society and people should inspire the journalists in Mainland China.
