Toni Morrison(1931—) is a famous contemporary Africa-American woman writer, who won the Nobel Prize in 1993. Morrison is a writer who is full of strong sense of race, she always keeps the past and future of the black people as the topic in her novels, keeping on developing their culture while never forget to think about the future of the black people's culture. This thesis tries to discuss Morrison's idea about the future of the black people and their culture through the folklore images in her novels.This thesis could be divided into five chapters:The first chapter summarizes the home and aboard academic studies of Toni Morrison and points out the necessity of taking a fresh look at the folklore images of Toni Morrison's works.The second chapter focuses on" folk culture background of the Morrison's novels" to explain the significance of the folk-custom culture and the unique aesthetic value of these folklore images in Morrison's novels, which is through "relevant folk"," the relationship of folk,culture and politics " and " folk culture background of the Morrison's novels ".The third chapter discusses the image of snake to analysis the close relationship between the snake and the black people's image, which discusses the double aesthetic of snake.The fourth chapter discusses the blue image to point out dreams of black people by analytic the significance of many blue images.The fifth chapter is analytic candy image, which is the symbol of sweet and "love".Morrison thinks the future of the black people and their culture need love.The finally chapter summarizes that Morrison wants to indicate that the future of black people and their culture is not attached to others, but based on the stubbornness of ethnic culture groundwork to seek the multicultural integration.
