"People have good or bad luck, moon has full and wanes". This proverb again validated by modern society. Nowadays, while people enjoy the great material wealth, convenience free flow of information and a wide choice, their spiritual world are suffering from severe shock and erosion. Especially the "90s" students as the majority in ivory tower, have experienced a lot of mental fluctuation.Social transformation, economic transformation, multi-value of the collision, the prevalence of utilitarianism, college students face with too many and difficult choices; dramatic changes in lifestyle and relationships become increasingly complex, render them with unprecedented mental stress in study, work and life. Especially since the college expansion since 1999 leap higher education from elite education to mass education. However, increased competition and difficulty in finding jobs are placing new source of stress, and bring a series of ideological and psychological problems to these students. Looking at the present campus, the spirit of the many problems caused by the pressure is gradually highlighted:trance, depressed anxious, difficulty concentrating, low learning efficiency, disturbing, inexplicable anxiety and depression concerns, self-confidence loss, big mood swings, impulsiveness, interpersonal imbalances, severe mental stress were devastating and in extreme case, push a few to tragedy. Students are the future of the nation, the elite groups of society. They are in critical time of gaining knowledge, ability, establish the correct personal and global view and outlook. Long period of mental stress without proper understanding, then the health of college students could be affected, thereby impeding the growth of the college students, resulting in huge waste of vital personal and family resources. From a higher level, stress of students not only to impact the growth and success of individual students, but also affects the overall quality of our talent pools, and national strategy and effective results of our education reforms. As the CPC Central Committee General Secretary Hu Jintao pointed out:"A far-sighted nation, should always pay attention to invest in youth; a visionary political party, should always regard youth as an important force for social and historical progress."Studying the issue of Mental stress of college students can lead to the helping college students to establish correct understanding of mental stress, to setup correct ideological and political education, physical and mental health support for students, to prevent, alleviate stress, to improve the personality and promote the harmonious development of the spirit of the needs of students. It not only has theoretical significance, but also has high practical significance. This paper intends to study the theories of the nature of stress, its current state and characteristics, deeply analyzing the double impact of mental stress of college student sand its root causes, try to find an effective method for their stress relief.This paper consists of five parts, summarized as follows:Part I:through the pressure, stress the concept of multi-angle, multi-disciplinary analysis, to clarify the essential connotation of the pressure, stress of college students to find the basic composition, pressure and other factors associated with the inner, mental stress for college students to provid heoretica] support;PartⅡ:detailed and objective analysis of the status of mental stress among college students, particularly to clarify out the key factors that lead to the largest element of stress. In the meantime, revealed the basic characteristics of mental stress on students, classification of mental stress of college students to further explore the positive and negative effects on growth, in order to stress on the students a more comprehensive understanding and provide a foundation for proposed relief or elimination of stress.Part III:comprehensive analysis the source and underlying reasons of stress on college students. This paper argues that the complex sources of mental stress are both subjective and objective. Subjective aspects include:thinking and cultivation, character and personality, personal experience and physical condition, level of maturity. Objective aspects include:family environment and conditions, school education, inter-personal relationships, communication skills, economic factors, factors such as professional and career choice. The underlying causes of its formation, including historical traditions, cultural heritage, personal and family expectations, values and outlook on life, social selection and employment mechanism, in particular:the social environment is the root environmental cause of stress; the insufficient education in of school is another factor; family education of college students are internal cause of mental stress; College students'maturity level is the main cause of stress. several specific measurement methods is also studied in this section.Part IV:study the relieve and educational strategies for mental stress:Including principle of mental stress relieve and eliminate, such as the timing principle, the level principle, the effectiveness principle, comprehensive principles. The basic elements of education include: helping to establish a correct outlook, values, solving cognitive problems; strengthening learning, enrich the spiritual world; understanding the frustration; enhance interpersonal communication and with the opposite sex…etc. the method of relief and eliminate stress includes:enhance political theory education; create a favorable cultural environment on campus; organize students to exercise in social practice; build network/web exchange platforms.
