This research is focused on the theoretical discussion and exploration on the domestic and international of the pressure, coping style and mental health. According to the statistics from the survey to 304 university students in a certain university of Jilin province by making use of young people Life Event Scale, Coping Style Questionnaire, symptoms SCL-90s, this paper makes analysis on the pressure on college students, and the differences in stress, coping style, mental health of college students from diverse backgrounds by adopting a frequency, mean, variance analysis and other statistical methods. It has already provided the foundation data for college students.The result of the research shows: (1) the highest rates of life events of students in the rank of the first five are: failure or dissatisfactory of the exam, the long-term of being far away from the family , the heavy study burdens, sudden changes in lifestyle, and the dispute with one's classmates or friends. (2) The overall mental health level of college students is lower than the adult norm. (3) The students from different background are different in response to the amount of psychological stress, coping style, mental health levels. (4) The six factors of psychological stress and the mental health level of the college students are in the significant positive correlation. Mature coping style and the factors of all the mental health symptoms are negatively related to immaturity factors and mixed mode and mental health symptoms to cope with all the factors are in the significant positive correlation, and even to reach an apparent level. The amount of psychological stress in college students and mature coping style was negatively correlated or weakly correlated with immature coping styles.
