This thesis mainly investigated and analyzed Chen Yixi, one important calligrapher in the beginning Qing Dynasty,his life,practice and concept of calligraphy,with four chapters:the first chapter investigated Chen's family and his life;the second chapter analyzed Chen's cognition and experience about the essence and artistry of the calligraphy,the study found the fact that his first advocating and learning about the Beibei in the beginning Qing Dynasty,then discussed it's significance in the calligraphy history;the third chapter unscrambled his critical point and tasting tropism through his remarks about the works and calligraphers in successive dynasties;the last chapter, analyzed some relevant problems about Lantingxu editions by his own appreciation on it,and the weakness of his views.At the beginning of Qing Dynasty,the mainstream of the calligraphy style just from Dong Qichang,ChenYixi has made certain contribution to the formation of the Epigraphy in Qing Dynasty with his strike out,can be considered a pioneer.
