Huangdi Neijing (Huangdi's classical of internal medicine) is one of the most classical works in China and has an important effect on TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine). This dissertation, deriving its main corpora from Huangdi Neijing and universal language documents of similar age, compares diagnosis and treatments verbs from medical terms with corresponding verbs from universal language. In this dissertation conceptual components analysis is put to use, and agent, patient, direction, instrument, strength, contaction, action feature and etc. are set as criteria. By analyzing and comparing, we can determine that most medical terms in Huangndi Neijing have their roots in universal language, and the conceptual components vary little in this process; while there are fewer items of universal language origining from medical items with many variations of conceptual components. Moreover, similarities and differences in conceptual components are relevant factors in the formation of double-syllable words. And conceptual theory of metaphor is also adopted to find the influence of cognitive model in the process in which items of universal language develop into medical items. We find that treating likes fighting and treating likes water-controlling are systematic correspondences and typical models, and by means of metaphors people can rather easily understand and experience the abstract medical concepts in terms of familiar and concrete ones.
