There are some kinds of words which can express self-perceptive feel in Mandarin Chinese such as "fan ren (烦人), men ren (闷人), bing ren (冰人), ni ren(腻人) ".Research on the self-perceptive word "V Ren" in dialects of Mandarin Chinese could be dated back to 1984. The previous research conducted some synchronic description and classification to them.Based on the previous research accumulated over the past 30 years, this thesis combines psychological theories with word prototyping theories to reclassify the "V Ren" word family, and to compare them with expressions from dialects of Mandarin Chinese.We endeavor to reveal some common formal and semantic principles of this word family, and to make predictions on their further development. In addition, there are some differences existing about the origin of "V Ren". We put forward a hypothesis through some diachronic investigation about this words family and endeavor to prove it.
