Research On The Limitations Of Zhang Ailing

In 1980s and 1990s, Chinese Mainland set off a "Crazy for Zhang Ailing", which fascinated many readers with her charm. The researches on Zhang Ailing and her works with numerous flattering words emerged overwhelmingly. However, we should be aware of that it is impossible for everything to be perfect and we should look on Zhang Ailing with reason and impersonality. This paper attempts to study the limitations of Zhang Ailing from four aspects. Firstly, it is the female consciousness of Zhang Ailing.She wrote it for their own weak and slave-like those of women.Given a lot of sympathy or even recognition,lack of awareness of transcendence and resisitance. Secondly, as for the character creation, Zhang Ailing intentionally weakened the male image, which was fatal to her character creation. The relationship of many works of hers showed that there were many similar situations with such two obvious aspects as the copy of abnormal sexual passion and that of tough love. Finally, many limitations of Zhang Ailing's creation were closely related to her life. Furthermore, her characters developed during the growing period also affected the themes of her works. Smaller soil life,causing her more and more narrow themes.
