With the continuous improvement of Chinese status worldwide, Chinese is more and more popular. More and more foreign students come to China to learn Chinese. This paper discusses a study on attitudes, motivation and Chinese Language proficiency of Southeast-Asian students in Jiujiang University. We hope to be able to know their Chinese language attitude and motivation and the help they need. Attitude is a steady behavioral tendency towards individuals and things and a complex social psychological phenomenon. It's within the domain of the study of social psychology. Motivation is one of the most important affective factors in Chinese learning, which has a great effect on South-east Asian students. Learning motivation is a dynamic psychological process, and has a certain relation to the learners'internal and external factors. Therefore, it is of theoretical and practical significance to make a multi-perspective research on the motivation of the learners in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (TCFL).On the basis of the relevant research of the English teaching both at home and abroad and the research findings in the field of TCFL, this study is a comprehensive survey and analysis of the learning motivation of South-east Asian students with the framework of psycholinguistics, education, second language acquisition, etc., adopting many research methods such as questionnaire, classroom observation, interviews and so on, for a comparison and analysis. The ultimate goal of this study is to find the characteristics in learning attitude and motivation of the South-east Asian students in the natural learning environment, in order to provide reference and suggestions for improving the quality of TCFL.This study used the class questionnaire as well as a follow-up survey to find out the South-east Asian students'condition. It studied the foreign students' attitude toward Chinese learning and the background factors influencing the attitude with demonstrative and quantitative questionnaire, and acquired the dynamic development of their leaning attitude and motivation. On examination, we found the language learning attitude and motivation of the South-east Asian students in Jiujiang University are positively relevant with their capabilities.From the results of survey, the majority of the South-east Asian students have a much clearer awareness of their learning attitude and motivation. The South-east Asian students in Jiujiang University have three different dimensions of attitude and motivation in gender, Chinese level, and whether he/she is of Chinese origin. Therefore, in the process of Chinese teaching, teachers should make a concrete analysis of specific issues, straighten out their learning attitude and stimulate their learning motivation appropriately so as to produce better learning outcomes and teaching effect. At the same time, we have put forward concrete teaching strategies for stimulating the South-east Asian students' motivation on the basis of their learning conditions.
