Baojuan of Jiu Quan is an oral and singing art, which is popular in the countryside of Jiu Quan. It originated from the Tang Dynasty, and flourished in Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty. It embaces prosaism and rhythm. the scenario has a vividly and complicated plot, which attracts most pepole of Jiu Quan. Baojuan is also a variable literature of religion, which has a form of chanting and singing. The content embraces historians, religionary stories and fairy tales, and so on. It always encourages people to do things with mercy. Because of the culture influence of Dunhuang, Baojuan could afford more valuable information for linguistics, folklore, literature and religion. It was a critical period during the history of China.Baojuan of Jiu Quan has its particularly regional characteristic. It mostly depended on pepole's word-of-mouth coming down. Sometimes, we could see few manuscripts. But a lot of Baojuan lost during the historical river. And Baojuan of Jiu Quan is on the verge of deadline. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the folk art with a view of musicology and anthropology, and to state and define the status and development, and to disclose more and more art value, so that a growing number of people could put their attention on it.
