The Research Of Zao Wang Bao Juan In Wu Dialect Area

Baojuan is an ancient folk arts of storytelling texts in religion(mainly Buddhism and various folk sects in Ming and Qing Dynasties)and folk belief activities that in accordance with fixed story ritual procedure.It has a long history of nearly 800 years.In the long-term development of Chinese society,influenced by many factors such as social political environment,folk culture background,etc.,a large number of Baojuan texts have been produced.The handed down "Zaowang Baojuan" has a large number of versions,and is one of the important carriers of folk Zaowang belief,which has a high research value.There are a large number of Zaowang Baojuan in Wu dialect area,which has its own system and is the most representative.This paper takes Zaowang Baojuan as the research object,discusses the origin and evolution of Zaowang Baojuan in Wu dialect area,and the relationship between Zaowang Baojuan and folk culture,folk religion,in order to have a clear position on the function and role of Zaowang Baojuan in folk culture and folk belief.The main body of the paper can be divided into the following three parts:The first chapter,"The situation of Zaowang Baojuan in Wu dialect area" summarizes the basic situation of Zaowang Baojuan in Wu dialect area.This paper makes a literature review of more than 40 kinds of "Zaowang Baojuan" in Wu dialect area,and details its version status.According to its content and form,it can be divided into four categories:prayer ceremony,sect education treasure,telling stories,and persuading good and punishing evil.In addition,it also introduces the publicity and performance of "Zaowang Baojuan" in Wu dialect area.The second chapter,"The evolotion factors of Zaowang Baojuan in Wu dialect area" clarifies the relationship between the Taoism kitchen sutra,Jiangnan folk sects,folk hugh lilac legend and "Zaowang Baojuan",and expounds the influence of the three on "Zaowang Baojuan" in Wu dialect area.Since Song and Yuan Dynasties,Taoism has prevailed in the south of the Yangtze River,and Taoism kitchen sutra is also popular among the people.The Baojuan in the south of the Yangtze River naturally takes local materials,and adapts the Taoism kitchen sutra into the "Zaowang Baojuan".After the middle of Ming Dynasty,folk sects rose,and Zaowang Baojuan in Wu dialect area was influenced by the sects.In Jingjiang,the "Zaowang Baojuan" was adapted from the folk hugh lilac legend and became the only example of "Zaowang Baojuan" in Wu dialect area.The third chapter," The function and value of Zaowang Baojuan in Wu dialect area" focuses on the function and value of Zaowang Baojuan in Wu dialect area.Most of the "Zaowang Baojuan" in Wu dialect area originated from the kitchen sutra literature of persuasion type,which have the same function and value as the kitchen sutra literature of this type.However,as a kind of kitchen sutra literature of ritual type,it permeates the folk belief life,and its function is more diversified.It has the function of persuading people to be good,communication with gods,disaster praying and other ritual functions,as well as entertainment for the common people function.Based on the text analysis of "Zaowang Baojuan" in Wu dialect area,this paper digs out the multiple factors influencing the development and evolution of "Zaowang Baojuan" in Wu dialect area,namely,Taoism kitchen sutra,folklore and folk sects,and then expounds the function and value of "Zaowang Baojuan" in Wu dialect area.Finally,it should be pointed out that "Zaowang Baojuan" is a very important category of kitchen sutra literature,but the academic community doesn't pay enough attention to it,and there is still a broad space for follow-up research.
