Effect Of Social Support Network On Mental Health Of Rural Women Left Behind In Northwest Region

With advancement of industrialization and urbanization, more and more labor surge into cities. Traditional model of gender diversity makes rural men more tend to be migrant workers and a large number of rural women left behind which attractes attention of domestic and foreign scholars. Scholars have conducted research on causes of left behind, living status and social support of rural women. However, scholars pay little attention on the mental health condition of rural women left behind that shoulder heavy pressure.From the perspective of social support network, this paper conduct research on mental health condition of rural women left behind in northwest region and its factors. Based on theory study, this paper apply social support network and SCL-90 scale to design questionnaire and select four villages from two towns in gansu province as survey point. By using statistical analysis method, this paper study the characteristics of social support network and mental health condition of rural women left behind in northwest region, but also explores the effect of social support network on mental health of rural women left behind in northwest region. The results show that:(1) the characteristics of social support netwok of rural women left behind in sample region is smaller scale, more strong relationship members, lower heterogeneity and high convergence.(2) the level of mental health of rural women left behind in sample region is significantly lower than the national average level. (3) the level of mental health of rural women left behind in sample region is inversely related to the scale of their social support network and negatively related to sex convergence of their emotional support network and positively related to sex heterogeneity of actual support network,but is not related to the relationship characteristics of their social support network. The significance of this paper can be listed as follow. For one thing, it discussed influence mechanism of factors for mental health of rural women left behind in northwest region, which rich theoretical research on rural women left behind. For another, research results of this paper is helpful for relevant departments seek to how to promote mental health of women left behind and promote the construction of harmonious family, harmonious society and new rural.
