Naturalistic literature is a universal literary trend which influenced deeply in human thoughts and the area of literature. It proposed a unique notion of the combination of science and arts, as a literay creative method, enlightened human being eternally. It can not separate from the experimental research on naturalistic literature held by Emile Zola. He introduced creately positivism philosophy, experimental medicine, physiology and genetics into literay creation and set up experimetal novel theories, that is Zola's Naturalism. Zola's naturalistic literature is different from the previous literary style and artistic quality in creative methods, thinking content, and so on. From the formation and development of naturalistic literature, it sprouted in France in 19th century, and then spread to Europe and America.This thesis is divided into two chapters:in the first chapter, the process of formation, developmental track and the important characteristics of Naturalism are elaborated. Then creative theories and methods of Zola's naturalistic literature are explored from the viewpoint of Marxist literary theories. In particular, the author illuminated the principles that naturalistic literature combined the literature with science. In the second chapter, the images of characters, the storyline and artistic achievements and influence of Zola's representative work Germinal are discussed and analyzed in this dissertation.
