Entitled as the most authoritative in modern Chinese language references, The Contemporary Chinese Dictionary (Contemporary Chinese for short) is the product of the theoretical results intertwined with the practice of dictionary compilation. The 5th edition compiled in 2005s fist labeled the parts of speech comprehensive, scientifically and properly. Adjectives are subcategorized into attributive adjective and state adjective in Contemporary Chinese 5.Contemporary Chinese 5 deleted the old version and less used words and meaning, it added a lot of new words and new ideas, and also have done appropriate changes for many examples of the words. How about the examples of those attributive adjectives? This thesis tries to make a research on 562 attributive adjectives based on the Research Center of Peking University Corpus Linguistics (CCL for shot) and the DIY database of attributive adjectives. This thesis concludes that the component which attributive adjectives modified is not single, but it relates to the verb morpheme in the word. The relationship of the agent and patient is not fixed, but it must be based on specific cases to examine the real distribution facilities. The syllable number affects the attributive adjectives modifying nouns. Monosyllabic words are easier than polysyllabic words to modify nouns directly. This paper also analyzes non-example attributive adjectives, it aims to find the appropriate examples, so that it would be helpful to next dictionary amendments.
