Attributive Adaptability Of Double Syllable Adjectives In Modern Chinese

Because of double syllable tendency,the number of double syllable adjectives is more and more in Modern Chinese.The internal classification of double syllable adjectives is complex,some of which are the simple form of adjectives,some of which tend to be complex.This paper takes double syllable adjectives as research target,which come from �Chinese Adjectives usage Dictionary�.We try to give intensive description of the double syllable adjectives in terms of syntax,semantics,rhythm and pragmatics and explain the reasons why they used as adjective shows big differences.Chapter one is introduction.It introduced the scope,purpose and significance of the topic.It summarized the previous research results and pointed out problems to be solved.Finally,it introduced the method and theory as well as the source of corpus.Chapter two is the statistics and analysis of double syllable attributive adjectives.Some double syllable adjectives can not add �de�,based of which,we classify the double syllable adjectives.Lastly,we analyze the reasons why some double syllable adjectives can not add �de�.Chapter three is dynamic effect of attributive adaptability of double syllable adjectives in modern Chinese.This chapter mainly discusses the effect of attributive adaptability on sentence and discourse level.Chapter four is prosody features on adverbial adaptability of Chinese double syllable adjectives.We point out that most double syllable adjectives confined to combine with disyllabic nouns[2+2]and monosyllabic adjectives confined to combine with monosyllabic nouns[1+1],a small number of double syllable adjectives can combine with monosyllabic nouns[2+1].Chapter five is pragmatic regulation on adverbial adaptability of Chinese double syllable adjectives.This chapter focus on two kinds of special phenomenon "subject category adjective + noun" and "double syllable Adjective + Personal Pronoun",and analyze the causes of these two kinds of special phenomena.Chapter six is conclusion.It summarized the main perspectives of this paper and illustrate the questions need to be researched furthermore.
