With the development of economy and culture, the learning boom on piano is going on and on. How to establish a good teaching mode on piano with effective teaching method to teach is always the mutual concern for piano teachers and students. However, the direct cause affecting teaching effect and the method of changing teaching model are less involved according to research literature available though they are key factors as mentioned above. This study takes constructivism theory as the starting point, based on the author's observation and the review of relevant research previously conducted in this field. The investigation gets inspiration mainly from constructivists'ideas and finds the concrete method of solving the problems. Constructivism concept is the most popular learning theory. It denies the knowledge view on reciting the ready-made formula and theory, maintaining that different individuals possess different opinions on understanding the real world. Therefore, it advocates the students to actively create what they learned, and takes the knowledge as a whole, a system and a knowledge system completed attributed to the students. This knowledge hierarchy expresses the subjective initiative performed by learners or the knowledge constructors in learning, and the accessibility of internal knowledge formed by initiative in the process of knowledge construction. All these are the perspectives for learning hold by constructivists which cannot be denied as advancement among positions in the areas of teaching and learning.This study project, based on the belief of student-oriented music education, keeps to the dual combination between sense and rationality, employing the research strategies from both quantitative and qualitative approaches. By means of survey study using questionnaire and web search, action research and other scientific methods, it combines with the actual situation to explore the problem and phenomenon in piano teaching. Meanwhile, taking the constructivist concept as the methodology of changing teaching mode, it vividly cites of constructivist concept in teaching process and makes the comparisons through making narrative description on action research. According to the needs of the study to select the typical cases in action research, the author tries to design proper and comprehensive teaching plans for students ahead of classes. Depending on a class of detailed record, the study results obviously show that the students have improved their learning abilities through transforming the teaching and learning mode which might be considered that the teaching achievement is satisfactory. In conclusion, based on constructivism, the piano teaching mode can effectively improve the existing drawbacks in teaching process.
