The Biographical Chronology Of Gao Pian

Gao Pian, named Qianli, Youzhou citizen. He was born in the first year of Changqing(821), and died in the third year of Guangqi(887). As the famous general of Tang Dynasty, he was once assigned as Qinzhou Prefecture Governor, Qinzhou Security Officer, An'nan Supervision Officer, Zhenhai Army Military Officer, Junzhou Prefectural Governor, Dongpin Military Officer, Xichuan Military Officer, Jingnan Military Officer, Huainan Military Officer, and Salt and Iron Transportation Officer. In the first year of Guangming (880), he was assigned as the Governor of roads and fields, and prevented the Huangchao Uprise from heading north across Yangtze river. During the Xinyi battle, his general Zhang Lin was killed, and Gao Pian prayed to the god everyday and Fang Shilv hept the final word for the politics and military affairs. In April, the third year of Guangqi, Gao Pian's subordinate military officer Bi Shiduo fighted back from Gaoyou to Yangzhou, and was died in Taoist monastery. In September, Gao Pian was killed by the subordinate general of Bi Shiduo.Gao Pian was the famous poet of late Tang Dynasty; there is a volume of his poets in Volume 598 Collection of Tang Poems, there are his 3 articles in Volume 33 Gleaning of Tang Articles; there are his biography in Biography of Tang Talents. Volume 200 of Taiping Collection cited the Essay of Xie Pan to comment Gao Pian:"he was good at poems when he was young, and his words were elegant and odd words. He devoted emotions and feeling into his works and dwarfed the writers at that time.
