Song Yu was a famous poet who followed after Qu Yuan in the end of Warring States Period, And he is very important in the history of Chinese literature. We find that Song Yu's works might be classified into creations-for-occasion and creations-for-individual according to the differences of the genre and the content.And through the differences between creations-for-occasion and creations-for-individual, considering the unique style of Ci Fu in the pre-Qin era, this dissertation attempted to make new exploration to Song Yu and his works.The whole text is divided into six parts: The introduction is the first chapter,the outline of Song Yus life and his writings in chapterâ…¡,the monarch-amused theme and creations-for-occasion in chapterâ…¢, the sentimental theme and creations-for-individual in chapterâ…£, Song Yu's writings and self-consciousness self-consciousness in literature in chapterâ…¤,the conclusion as the last chapter.The introduction reviewed the overall and current research of Song Yu and his writings,explained the study methods and value of selected subject. In Chapter II , the author listed the records in ancient books in details we could make image of Song Yu's life. And carefully arranged The collection of Song Yu's writings and other works in order to confirm specific preserved Song Yu's writings which contain Jiu Bian, Feng Fu,Gao Tang Fu,Shen Nv Fu,Deng Tu Zi Hao Se Fu ,Dui Chu Wang Wen , Da Yan Fu,Xiao Yan Fu , Diao Fu and Bei Hui Feng.In chapter III, the author analyzed the monarch-amused tendency in the subjects of Gao Tang Fu and Shen Nv Fu to prove the monarch-amused theme almost existed in all of Song Yu's works, and this type of writings could be perceived as the creations-for-occasion according to the times and status he belonged to, by which we might find that monarch-amused creation was a rational literary phenomenon, thereby highlighting the differences with writings of Sao.In chapter IV , the author argued that Song Yu had a few creations , e.g. Jiu Bian and Bei Hui Feng, were not the same as his writings composed in his early years because they were the expressions of his own sorrow and embodied some sort of his personal stylish innovations in purport reflecting the propensity of literary orientation.In chapter V, the author affirmed Song Yu's innovations from three aspects including expressive field, creative techniques and genres style, discussed self-consciousness of literature as well in favor of highlighting the status and value of Song Yu's writings.In the last part of this dissertation, the author summarized the characteristics and acceptance by later scholars of Song Yu and his works which have a far-reaching influence in history of Chinese literature.
