Analysis Of Feng Zikai's "Dual Personality"

Feng Zikai's creativity of essay ran through all his life and it has been proved that no matter how time changes, his essays always maintain a great vitality. Essays always mirror their author's true nature and character. Feng Zikai's essays which also closely relate to his personality composition.According to Feng Zikai's contemporary writers, nowadays readers and observers, his character is generalized as "pure", "peaceful", "natural", "humble" and "modest". After reading Feng's essays, Japanese sinologist Yoshigawa Kōziro named him as "one who most like artist among modern China's artists". However, Feng Zikai was very calm to all these praise, what's more, he described himself as "one who own dual personality".My paper focuses on this disparity and takes it as a basic point for study. Meanwhile, analyses Feng Zikai's character and his essays, especially those wrote before 1949, through three perspectives: cause, phenonmnon and result.The first part of my paper reappears the context of Feng Zikai's "dual personality" theory, explains the reason why Feng Zikai described himself as "one who own dual personality" , shows his longing for personality and the embarrassment he met in life. Besides, defines that Feng Zikai's "dual personality" should be added quotation marks.The second part details the trouble and conflict that Feng Zikai met in temporal life and how he hold his own rule of being a true person. Combined with his essays and his contempoary writers' evluation, analyses his particular psychological qualities, the impact on his essays and his discovery of "bitter theory". Affirms the persistence of Feng Zikai's character and the unity of his personality.The third part shows Feng Zikai's self-expectation and his achievement. Feng pursued to transcend himself and to transcend the temporal society all his life, thanks to his children, he achieved his ideal. At the same time, children, also become one of the important elements in his essays, which help him create one of his important art theories: "isolation theory", meanwhile, reveal unique artistic charm and aesthetic features in Feng Zikai's essays.Feng Zikai lived his life with a heart of art, resolved temporal disturbing with a heart of children, treated ordinary life with a heart of persist and kindness. His life attitude was truely reflected in his essays and made his essays own a beauty of peace, pure and harmony. The contradiction of his "dual personality" never impair his qualities like leisureliness and detachment. Feng Zikai took his whole life and all his essays interpret a persistent and serious life style.
