The Study On Adverbs In "the Tale Of Heroes"

"The Tale of Heroes"is a long chivalric novel, which was written by Wen Kang in the Qing Dynasty, was hailed as"excellent language textbooks in Beijing". This book has particularly strong Spoken language, which was better able to reflect and represent the language of Beijing area. The language of "The Tale of Heroes" is a transition from the Ming and Qing vernacular language to the modern Chinese language, not only saved a part of language which used down by composition from the ancient Chinese, Middle Chinese, but also has the new generation of language of Ming and Qing Dynasties."The Tale of Heroes"has a large number of adverbs with complex using, either in breadth or in depth, it was not sufficient in existing research. Based on previous studies, this paper will make further discussion, and hope to provide some valuable materials for the researching of modern Chinese especially for the function words.At the introduction part of the thesis, which introduced the author, the version, the research status of"The Tale of Heroes", the definition and classification of adverbs. The second part is the main body of this thesis, on the base of an exhaustive survey, which added up 482 adverbs in the all book of"The Tale of Heroes". In the discussion of the process,it divided to two categories that included early produced and newly created according to the time in order to observe the times; and classified for six categories for adverbs of"The Tale of Heroes", such as adverbs of degree, the scope of adverbs, time adverbs, adverb of tone, negative adverbs and adverbs of situation, according to their functional characteristics and meaning characteristics. And then further divided into several subcategories for each category. On the basic of the classification and analysis of each adverb, depending on some methods such as graphic description, quantitative statistics and history comparative, which analyzed the all adverbs and summarized some features reflected from adverbs of each category in"The Tale of Heroes".In the conclusion part, it summarized general characteristics of adverbs system in"The Tale of Heroes": having a completely and relatively stable adverb system; having imbalance of the development of the newly produced adverbs; appearing many adverbs with a strong northern dialect color or spoken language colors, especially the adverbs of degree; having 10 adverbs which were according to the upper limit from"The Tale of Heroes".
