From the beginning of time , when people found Ancient Greece Apollo temple wall engraved with the oracles " know yourself " , people who like philosophy has never given up seeking the sense of self. In the long history of philosophy , the theory of self - awareness started from the ancient time .At that time people believed that self equalled to object. Through the Modern Theory of Knowledge , people started to separate the form of " self " and object , they began to make self into physical existence. And with the development of philosophy , people began to separate self from its inner part ,they made self into objects. Until the post-modern trend of philosophy, people finally put self and objects into one , requiring the self - consciousness. From all these we can see that the theory of self– awareness has a long history with great importance , causing great effects .As an outstanding scholar , Kant took the responsibility of finding the foundation of self and knowledge. Facing the question from Hume that as a human being we cannot have Permanent sense of self– awareness ,Kant started from finite self to find the truth .After all his hard work ,he built the theory of self– awareness as the foundation of his philosophy .Although Kant had his own problems in his theory, his solution of Hume's question had great importance . After Kant , Fichte used the theory of knowledge against Kant's self– awareness theory. Schelling used intuition to solve the problem of Kant's self– awareness theory. Hegel made the problem solved by using geist. In the history of philosophy , we never have permanent answer of every question . So even Kant has flaws in his theory of self– awareness, but we can not ignore its value and importance.
