It is based on the previous researchers and consists of three chapters. The first chapter focuses on Lu Yao's novel performance way of the civilian consciousness. This chapter, which is from the rural subject matter, shaping the image of the civilian population, rendering the underlying atmosphere, will be addressed. First, seen from a historical view of his works, Lu Yao's works, mainly themed on rural life, deeply reflect the reformation taken place in countryside. He concerns passion-ately the living state of fanners, as well as changes in people's life and the whole country. This feeling toward fanners can be seen from the dialogues to his inner heart, and the characters created in these works. His character, so to speak is a miniature of the vast majority of the endeavoring people of the times and a combination the farmer awareness and spirits of the learned. Secondly, Lu Yao descended from the lower class of the society and lived in the countryside, which enables him to have a better knowledge of lower class people, and successfully record his poor living conditions and inner feelings, try to show exactly the true life of lower classes by the description of hunger. The second chapter is about the Worth Claim of Lu Yao's civilian awareness. It attempts to embody its aesthetic beauty from three aspects, namely, the hints from ordinary living, the reflection of relationships between rural and urban districts, the appeal for the traditional moral standards. First, Lu Yao is a learned writer with his unique spiritual pursuit. He spent his forty-three years, leaving us splendid master piece which are rich in content and thinking, especially those deserving a serious second thought, for example, the persistence and endurance of hardship; the pursuit of knowledge and civiliza-tion; the devotion and responsibility to the country and his people and so on. Secondly, Lu Yao not only writes the pure minded and backward country life but the county and provincial capital as well. Any story is set in certain space, and a successful writer always tends to start with his description of the familiar environment. Lu Yao set his contry-themed works on a most appropriate background, namely, the intersection of country and city. Thirdly, the profound culture connotation embedded in his works are convey in a complex and contradictory way, that is, he surpasses the cognition of traditional culture and reviews the modern culture. We audiences should value highly his praise for moral standards and harmonious relationships, the "cool" awareness of reformations of rural life and his choice of cultural value. The third chapter explains the reasons from his civilian awareness from the following aspects:the in heritage of the previous culture tradition, the improvement of social circumstances, and the advantage of life experiences. First, in the traditional Chinese culture, Ru Culture enjoys priority. Lu Yao, together with Chen Zhongshi, Jia Pingwa, sons of farmer, accepts Ru Culture as its model of psychology. But they have their own style. In Lu Yao's works, he emphasizes the aesthetic standards of traditional morality. Undoubtedly, the traditional Chinese moral standards have exerted an influence on him, especially those of Ru. Secondly, the defeat of "the gang of four" in October 1976 marked the ends of 10-year-long chaos of "culture revolution". The artists and writers who lived through this disaster celebrated their "second liberation" with the vast civilians. The circles of culture and arts refreshed after the campaign, and the learned ones created with tremendous passion, resulting in a colorful bloom. This was also the case in the political arena and the Chinese cultural circle entered a new era. Lastly, Lu Yao was brought up in a poverty-stricken mountainous area, and the extreme poverty, difficulties have injected in him a deep feeling about those. What's more, Lu Yao's rocky journey of love also contributes to his writing. Therefore, his works are full of the experience of hardship, known as a unique bitter memory. He succeeded in mirroring the life of civilians of that time by confronting himself the reality, participating actively and recording its in a common and true way.
