In the collection of short stories "Taipei people", Bai Xianyong put a lot of time and energy to describe the fate of these mainlanders, life experience ups and downs. It is a hidden clue to explore the outsiders` consciousness, which he took as an entry point to analyze the survival status and kernel spirit of these marginal people and it is a useful attempt. In this paper, the author explored and studied the mainlanders` sense in the novel of Bai Xianyong from many points such as the writer`s inventing time background, life experience, emotional experience, literature philosophy and so on.In the introduction of the paper, there is a brief review for the study of Bai Xianyong and discuss the meaning and purpose of mainlanders` consciousness. In the major part, the author made a research from three points as a basic research for "the mainlanders'consciousness", the creation of "the mainlanders'consciousness", and the anxiety of status identification for "the mainlanders'consciousness".Part I: There is a basic research for"the mainlanders'consciousness". The article focuses on the"marginal groups"who struggled in the historical and political crevice, and mainly analyzed the specific spirit core—"mainlanders'consciousness", and explored the impact of this consciousness on Taiwan literature creation. By exploring Baixianyong`s unique life experience and life background, the article expresses the helplessness and sadness of the mainlanders` lost roots and diasporas.Part II: Living Elsewhere - "Taipei" mainlanders conciseness generation. First, by specific analysis of the mainlanders'image, the author wanted to find that they has changed a lot. (Wang Mengyang, Weng Puyuan and Zhong Mo in "Father Liang Poets", Li Haoran in"The Poet of holding on to yesterday"and"State Funeral"); Loss of soul and body (Wang Xiong in"the patch of the rhododendron red like blood"and Mr. Lu in"Huai qiao rong ji"Second, the homesickness and diasporas as one aspect of the mainlanders consciousnesses have also been investigate deeply.Part III: Identity Anxiety -the core of the mainlanders'consciousness. In this part, by making the combination of reality, the author interpreted the impact of the complex and conciseness of the mainlanders for Taiwan society. First, the author analyzed the complex and conciseness of the mainlanders in the novel of "Taipei People" and found how they dated back that history. Taiwan writers have the tradition of concerning time and the country because of the history change and life setbacks. Second, concerning about current contradiction of social groups, provincial conflict, and the conflicts and struggle of mainlanders in Taiwan, the author analyzed the identification anxiety of the new mainlander's generation. The offspring of the wanderers have changed the attitude for persistent search of the identification and are concerned more about the group political identification when thinking about the personal identification.In the conclusion, the author explored how the mainlanders'writers represented by Bai Xianyong write and express the suffering of wandering in the marginal status and explored the personal life value from the vision of the whole literature environment.
