The high-speed development of the modern society has been not merely promoting scientific technology and rapid economic development, but imposing increasing heavy pressures on people's lives and career developments. It's generally thought that the main stressors undergraduates face in college are adaptation, school work and interpersonal relationship. But in recent years, with the reformation of college education system, the graduating students have to compete with others in the personnel market, rather than waiting for assignments of the country. The new system gives more right autonomy of choosing jobs to them, and also brings more competing pressure. With more people in colleges, causes like the disequilibrium of economic developmen and lagging notions make job-hunting pressures in undergraduates more obvious. So we must pay close attention to job-hunting pressures in undergraduates, and provide them ways to ease the pressures and keep mental healthy.With the method of questionnaire investigation, 300 graduating candidates in Huazhong University of Science and Technology were samplified in the study. By using the scale of job-hunting stresses in undergraduates, the simplified coping styles questionnaire (SCSQ), center for epidemiologic studies depression scale (CES-D) and trait anxiety inventory (TAI), the stressors, coping styles and mental health of the undergraduates were investigated. All the data colleted were statistically analyzed by the software program of SPSS11.5 .The conclusions of this study included:1. In the beginning and later period of getting a job, the undergraduates have six factors causing job-hunting stresses.2. Some dimensiongs of job-hunting stress, its coping style and mental health are significantly different between different students'community.3. Some dimensions of job-hunting stresses and the degree of anxiety are higher in the later period of getting a job than in the beginning. But the coping style has no significant difference in the two stages.4.Job-hunting stress and its dieffrent aspects exert negative impacts on mental healht. Job-hunting sterss is positively associated with negative coping style. Negative coping style exert negative impacts on mental health both in the beginning and later period of getting a job.5.In the beginning and later period of getting a job, coping style play an moderating effect in the impacts that job-hunting stress impose on mental health.
