Settlement Geography is an important branch of Human Geography, it is also an importantstarting point for the study of the relationship between man and his environment. Since world theWar ii, however, the urban construction, economic recovery and fast development drew more andmore attention, internationally, many scholars focus their attentions to cities, therefore theresearches on the countryside weakening. At home, due to the implementation of the urbanizationstrategy and with the rapid development of urban economy, the planning sector of geographyalso turned to cities, rural settlement researches are neglected seriously. Rural settlement containsmassive rural population, it is the location of production and living. The formation and evolutionare affected by natural conditions as well as the social, economic and cultural factors. The ruralarea in our country have large population, wide range, and are with huge number. But the ruralsettlements in our country face many outstanding problems in the long time development.MayingVillage lies in west Loess Plateau in which loess is distributed densely, it belongs to Loess Hillygully Area, where has widespread loess distribution, more mountains and fewer plains, densegully valley and terrain broken. Maying village is also one of village that is developed earlier, theagricultural development is with a very long history. Because of the social economic form toevolve, various social economic factors and the constant change of the natural conditions, thespace MaYing town.it differences emerged from ancient space form typical of the feudal societyform the Ming and qing dynasties "-tri-cities four fort" pattern, the etiquette to reform and openpolicy before special social form of the replacement of a pattern, then update along the lines toafter the reform and opening a ribbon group layout form what the phenomenon of developmentand evolution.Based on the the research of the evolution of rural settlement spatial structure, taking theperspectives of society, economy, history, geography and culture, with the methods of theoreticaland empirical analysis, qualitative and quantitative analysis, social investigation, literatureanalysis, and the technical means of GIS, this thesis tries to study and analyse the origin, development, the evolution and the spatial structure of the rural settlements in MaYingsystematically and comprehensively. According to the archaeological data and historicaldocuments, the origin and development of rural settlement are summed up. Using statistical dataand on-the-spot investigation data, the present study surveys systematically the evolution of thespatial structure of MaYing town since 1949. Finally a conclusion is achieved that there is a trendthat the countriness diminishes while urbanness enhances slowly. This paper finally puts forward MaYing town space form evolution trend and the idea of thefuture research of spatial structure of towns, think to blend into the process of regional spatialintegration between urban and rural areas, among the key is the integration of social and economicrelations, this is the essence of urban and rural integration, the two should be specified by political, economic, social and natural connection, form mutually support each other and mutual reliancefunction of regional integration. China's rural social economic development, the difference is verybig, so the study of towns space form should be diverse models when change analysis and thusChina to establish the vast rural town space structure evolution of general characteristics of spatialstructure of towns MaYing research may not change the scope of study perfectly suited to all, would not be suitable for China's other areas, which requires us to further do different regionallevel pattern analysis and summary.
