Clothes/Fashion is a symbol of a city, and of a woman as well. We can say that the fate of a woman is a ashionable dress show? and the history of a city is just so. At the end of 20 century, being set off the city bright with many colors, the intercourse among common people hide a allegory toward historic and political trends, lying&ntrn powerless feeling about the favorable or unfavorable turns in life. With the whole conception of ontemporary Chinese Literature ? tl1~ugh our concrete research and understanding about three representative works of city literature at the end of 20 century: A song of deepj~gret, A lonely garden of clouds and the prosperity and beauty at the end of century, viritten by three women authors in shanghai, Hongkong and Taiwan, we consider lothes/fashion?as a metaphor and the end of 20 century as a time point, 8y analyzing women fates and different individuals?histories in this three texts, we look back upon the histories about city and fashion and try to find a new poetics utterance in city. Through comparison, we can reveal the interactions among different literatures from these differences existed in narrative patterns and among cities. Thus, by this we disintegrate ringe center?theory and describe another cultural picture of China at the end of 20 century. The lothes tales?described in this article is a special utterance in Chinese poetics under the background of ass culture? The latter, which is another form of postmodernism, is a undertaking of post-enlightenment in today world and will has great effort upon literature creation from now on.
