Catch-22 is the first novel of Joseph Heller, which has earned great fame for its author. It severely lashes against the bureaucratic system represented by Catch-22. This paper, from the point of the human nature, analyzes different reactions towards the bureaucratic pressure. It's divided into three parts. The first part presents the tremendous pressure people suffered from. The second part classifies two kinds of victims of the bureaucratic system. The third part emphasizes the fleeing of man-god. Finally, it concludes that Catch-22 is the representative of the capitalist bureaucratic system which exerts great pressure on the human beings, and ruins their psychology, spirit and even life. Men living in the world of Catch-22 have no power to overthrow this catch, their only way of maintaining the physical survival is to depend on their conscientious awakening to flee.
