The Folklore Study Of The Book Of Zhuangzi

It is well known that the lofty value of the Book of Zhuangzi is generally acknowledged in the ancient history of philosophy?in China. However, people focus less attention to its potential value in the research of Chinese folklore. Through carefully studying and researching on the Book of Zhuangzi this paper strives to explore its material value and theoretical significance of the folk customs in it and to find out the inherent relationship between the philosophy of Zhuangzi and folklore. Today; I make another examination of it from the angle of modernization construction, I look foreward to finding out its stimulating role in the construction of today抯 folk customs and folklore. The main purpose of this paper is to open a new field on the research of the Book of Zhuangzi and to make it elaborate a new role in the course of the Chinese cultural development. This paper is devided into 4 parts: Part I deals with the ken of folk customs in the Book of Zhuangzi and in it the related objects and phenomena of folk customs before Qin Dynasty in the Book of Zhuangzi are col1ect~d and listed .And it also makes a brief analysis about the objects and phenomena concerned above. Part II is concerned about the view of the folk customs in the 憀 Book of Zhuangzi. That is to say, it both critically analyzes the folk customs prevailing at Zhuangzi抯 times and it visulizes an ideal folk customs picture meanwhile it makes comments on the merits and faults of the view of the folk customs. Part III is devoted to the relationship between the content of folk customs and the philosophy system in the Book of Zhuangzi. By the thorough research of it,one will realize that the content of the folk customs in the Book of Zhuangzi is one of the reality bases of the system of philosohy thought meanwhile the content of the folk customs is supported by the philosophy views and the relationship between them is interactive. Part IV is dedicated to the guiding significance of contemporary folk customs and folklore construction in the Book of Zhuangzi. The folklore study of the Book of Zhuangzi can make the psychology of the contemporary folk customs more perfect and make the relationship between man and nature more harmonious. It also can make the workers of the folklore pay more attention to the understanding and research of the folklore value in the Books of Philosophers before Qin Dynasty.
