The combining forms of the verb wen with its content or with its ob-ject have undergone a process of change. On the basis of historical litera-tures, the dissertation makes a tentative analysis into this process and itscause.There are four sections in the dissertation.Section I renders the combining forms of the verb wen with itscontent or with its object in ancient Chinese. There are six forms:A, "wen + content";B," wen + yu + object";C," wen + content + yu + object";D, " wen + object";E," wen + content + object";F," wen + object + content".Section II discusses the process of change of the verb wen with itscontent or with its object. In the stage of LunYu , there are forms A.Band C with a few exceptions; In the stage of MengZi, the form D is inthe dominant position; In the stage of HanFeiZi, the form F appears,and from this on, the combining forms of the verb wen with its contentor with its object stablizes on the forms A.D and F gradually.Section III provides an analysis of the uncoincident of the verb wen's cha11ge.
