The intelligentsia on a specific stratum and academic definition has peculiar connotation of its own. The intelligentsia of Wei桱in period is a special product of the political and cultural circumstances from Qin and Han Dynasties, the continuance of the socialization of intellectuals of Qin and Han dynasties. The evolution from intellectuals to the intelligentsia is actually a course in which the occupations and identities of intellectuals have been socialized, and also in this course the social occupation and political status of intellectual have been developed from achieved status to ascribed status.The combination of the intelligentsia to the Confucianism and the close connection to local society are the basic condition for the intelligentsia to acquire its social identity. To participate into political circles is the final realization of its value. In the sense, The intelligentsia could be regarded as such a social community which has possessed both social and political identities, and has local emotion complex and political connection, with the Confucianism as its spiritual support.After the formation of identities of the intelligentsia of Wei?Jin period. This community has exerted great influence on the history of that period. Starting from the same spirituals content, bureaucratic intelligentsia and the intellectuals of the intelligentsia have functioned together to maintain the normalization of social order from the consciousness of laws and rights and the sequence of morals and ethics. Being guided by Confucianism humanism, the bureaucratic intelligentsia has taken part responsibilities for local society and sustained the normal move of monarchical politics from the political facet. The intellectuals of the intelligentsia, as the inheritors and transmitters of cultural spirit has paid more attention to local morals , the education and the standardization of local customs, and tried to push civilized intellectuals into political circles. In a word, for the subjective role of the intelligentsia, the tradition of Taoism and political administration philosophy has2been greatly developed and the localities and authority facet has been well sewn up.The aristocratic families are the final pattern and ultimate nature of development of the intelligentsia. The identity of the intelligentsia is achieved status, but the aristocratic families arc ascribed status. The former emphasizes the social identities, the latter the political status as well as the symbols of family status and clan reputations. The gradual enlargement of political privileges as well as the invasion into the central plains of non?Han nationalities has consolidated the status of the aristocratic families.During the period of Sixteen梥tate and Bei梥tatc Dynasty, the intelligentsia devotes itself to race assimilation and ethnic integration, what it has been pursued is still the spiritual value. It has still guided the inclination of cultural development of that period. At the same time, the intelligentsia has politically attached itself to the administrations of minority national ities and its status in this context has been slowly evolved into that of the aristocratic families.
