Translation studies are of wide range and many subjects are adapted. The present essay is mainly to discuss the requirements for the translator and to find out reasons for literal translation and free translation, addition to or cancellation of the original as well as the alteration of narrating techniques of the original in fictional translation from English into Chinese from the point of view of aesthetic psychology. At last, multi-translations of the same original will be discussed in the present essay. The first part is an introduction. It is a general review of translation studies at home and broad, which raises the problems to be discussed in the present essay. The second part deals with the requirement of the translator from the point of view of aesthetic psychological structure. We believe that a translator is supposed to keep his/her eyes open at the change of fiction itself and adjust his/her psychological structure to it so as to easily cope with a concrete translation task. The third part elaborates the way of literal translation and free translation, addition to and cancellation of the original and the alteration of the techniques of the original. The fourth part discusses multi-translations of the same original. It is conducted at three angles, namely, aesthetic constituents of aesthetic structure of fiction, the translator itself and differences resulting from times. The last part is a brief conclusion. According to the analysis above, this author of the present essay believes translation is the realization of a translator's aesthetic activity. Accordingly, there are no same translations by different translators, and translation critique should take the translator, the reader of the target language and times into consideration. The critique ignorant of any of the three aspects is unfair.
