The stylistic originality in Fei Ming's novels is an extremely conspicuous literary phenomenon in Chinese modern literary arena, but owing to some factors outside literature, Fei Ming has for a long period of time been almost buried in oblivion deliberately. With a background of the ideological emancipation in the new age, a large number of writers who were once overlooked have again aroused general concern. Yang Yi, in his The History of Modern Chinese Novels determines Fei Ming's prominent place in the history of modem Chinese literature and quite highly appraises him, thus making this writer a topic of general interest who in his time evoked much controversy . The researchers have studied him and his works from the angle of local novels, Beijing school and other schools and trends of thought, or analyzed the influence of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism on him or the artistic features of his novels. Though there is some research dealing with the stylistic features of Fei Ming's novels, it does not treat them as a special subject so as to have a through study of them, and the research has not yet given a persuasive explanation of the interrelationship between the stylistic originality of Fei Ming's novels and his personality as well as corresponding literary conceptions. This paper is intended to be a deep study of this problem.Apart from the introduction and the conclusion , the paper has three parts.Part One: The originality of the writing of novels in the form of poetry and the construction. This part is divided into two aspects. The first aspect tells how the form of Fei Ming's novels pounds at the established standards of the form of traditional novels and bursts their bounds to construct a new from in which novels are written the way poems are. The paper first expounds the principal narrative norms of traditional novels and then given an analysis of the background and possibility of the construction of thestyle of Fei Ming's novels by discussing the elements bred by the narrative norms of traditional novels to make a breakthrough, the cultural trends of thought in the days of the May 4 Movement, the inherent mechanism of the development of the novel itself and the changes in the style of Western novels. The second part analyses the originality of the form of Fei Ming's novels, chiefly expounding the loosely-knitted plots of stories, the innocent and beautiful images of characters, the structure of the " synthesis of landscape paintings " and the poetic way of the expression of the authors emotions by lodging his feelings in the scenes and happily blending feelings with settings . The analysis will give the reader of the paper some clear idea of the definite construction of the novel form of Fei Ming's writings which is inheritance of tradition as well as a breakthrough.Part Two: The special pleasing quality of the language of Fei Ming's novels. This part deals with the revolt of the language of Eel Ming's novels against tradition and his aesthetic pursuit, and the "simplicity and abstruseness " of the language. The paper discusses here the brevity and the cultural connotation of the language, i.e. the directly perceived formal features of the style of Fei Ming's novels . The paper also points out that, since Fei Ming laid too much stress on the brevity and strangeness of the language, considerable obstacles are put before the readers who read his novels. This shows the immaturity of the new style. The language of Eel Ming's novels is discussed in the following three aspects: 1. The brevity of the language. Fei Ming pays special attention to the simplicity of the language, which is genuinely meaningful; however, the over-emphasis of the simplicity will lead to the obscurity of work. 2. The poetic language. Fei Ming employs large numbers of ancient poems and allusions in his novels so that his novels are noticeably poeticized and a sort of charm, appeal, mood and spirit is conveyed through the language. 3. The rich and colorful language. The language in Fei Ming's novels is rich with meanin...
