Study On Wang Fuzhi's Poetic Feeling-Situation Theory

Wang Fuzhi(Chuanshan),a poetical theorist in late Ming Dynasty and the beginning of Qing Dynasty,freshly criticizes the lyrics in all times harshly,so his poetic comments are called the majestic falling glow and the aesthetic model of the Chinese classic artistic philosophy.The Chinese lyrics express their emotion through aesthetic selection and comˉbination of scenaries and circumstances,which decides Feeling-Situaˉtion Theory occupied an important position in his poetical system.On the base of refuting and absorting the aesthetic relation between subject and object,Chuanshan's Feeling-Situation Theory mixes the trenchant pen with the philosophical thoughts organicly,which becomes a comprehenˉsive expression of aesthetic image theory in the Chinese classic poetics.This thesis tries to study Wang Fuzhi's poetical Feeling-Situation theoˉry systematically in five parts with the methods of history to confirmaˉtion,point to scale,pushing layer upon layer,and base on uniflying hisˉtory and logic.The first,dividing into three periods to describe theoretiˉcal achievements of Feeling-Situation Theory before Qin Dynasty.The second,analysing the artistic categories of feeling and situation in Chuanshan's poetics.The third,analysing the three image conbination models of situation conbining feeling,feeling conbining situation and feeling-situation mutually conbining pefectly and their aesthetic generˉating mechanism.The fourth,expounding the aesthetic tension of Feelˉing-Situation Theory from structure maintaining feeling,a foot posˉsessing extremely long-distance force and readers explaining the text with their feelings differently.The last,Considering Feeling-Situaˉtion Theory through the philosophical world view of Heaven and Man Relation,which is the ultimate pattern of understanding Chuanshan's thoughts adoption of philosophy,historiography and poetics.Generally speaking,Wang Fuzhi's Feeling-Situation Theory marks the peak of the classic image theory and embodies the fundamental spirit of the Chiˉnese culture,which is the indispensable link in studying Chinese poetics.
