Zhang Shi was a famous philosopher of Song Dynasty, and was well reputed together with Zhu Xi and Lu Zuqian as "three persons of virtue in southeast China". He was also one of important representative figures of Hu Xiang School. In spite of these the research work related to his thought is seldom seen and ever ignored in present academic circles. It was only in 80's that it had been occasionally researched, but without being paid great attention or being further researched. In fact Zhang Shi's thought is abundant. His knowledge, has greatly influenced on the scholars of his time, especially on Zhu Xi. That Zhu Xi could become an important and famous philosophical scholar can't be separated with the fact that he was closely connected with Zhang Shi and frequently exchanged their academic thoughts. We can say that without Zhang Shi, Zhu Xi could not achieve so much or be so famous. Just led by Zhang Si, Hu Xiang School had become the biggest and most prosperous academic group at that time. Till today, We can still see and feel the vigor and studying style of Hu Xiang School.By analyzing the ontology, Introspection theory, human nature theory, Knowing and doing theory, etc. of Zhang Shi's philosophical thought, the author, in this article, think the thought of Zhang Shi differs from not only Zhu Xi's Li ontology but also Lu Xiang Shan Xin ontology. On the basis of inheriting former worthies' thought, Zhang Shi constructed his distinctive Taiji ontology. In the author's opinion, Zhang Shi devoted uniquely to the development of philosophy of Sony Dynasty and the history of Chinese thought. His thought is an inevitable link of that with possession of historical place.
