This is a study on the Longshan times' cultures at ordos region, including the areas of mid-south Inner Mongolia, northern Shaanxi Province, mid-northern Shanxi Province and northwestern Hebei Province. The dissertation looks back the archaeological discoveries of Ordos region at Longshan Times since 1920's. It also summarizes the research achievements recent year. By collecting archaeological discoveries, the author selects those sites which have been excavated formally and have abundant cultural ruins unearthed as the main research contents. Methodologies such as archaeological stratigraphy, archaeological typology, archaeological culture and environmental archaeology are applied here in attempt to address the critical issues of periodization and cultural pedigree.The Longshan culture can be divided into 2 types, which are the Laohushan Culture and Xinhua Culture. Laohushan Culture can be sub-divided into two phrases. The early phrase is Laohushan period, dating up to 4500-4300; the late phrase contains 2 periods, Yongxindian and Baicaota, dating up to 4300-4150. Xinhua Culture includes 3 phrases, Zhaimao period, Zhukaigou period and Xinhua period, dating up to 4150-3900.The author points out cultural ruins in Longshan times at ordos region have manifest local characteristics, especially in late Longshan times. |
