In her novels, Xu Xiaobing creates a series of images of "modern witches", who share similar characteristics, that is, they all have their innermost secrets. They are incompatible with the real world while trying to retain their inner beauty in the madding world. They have strange dreams that they seem to have experienced in their pre-lives. They can hear a kind of murmurs like pontification and predict the doom of their love, but they choose to die for their lovers involuntarily as a moth darting into a flame. What they say has abstruse and unfathomable implications and they have the capacity to enchant men's body and soul, but they fail to hold their infatuated love. They are "witches" born for love. This thesis attempts to highlight Xu Xiaobing's "witch complex" from three aspects: childhood composition, love experience and mysterious inspiration.
