Xu Wei was a monstrous sacre in Chinese literary world during the 16th century. Throughout his life, he lived a frustrated and difficult life, his behavior was eccentric to the customs and traditions at that time. In spite of that, he still continue to write freely in order to criticize the reality of the society and seek after the true meaning of life, which made unique contribution to the world of art .This article starts with the given literary form of traditional opera, centers on Nan Ci Xu Lu, and embraces many opera comments such as preface, remarks, adaptation, etc. It takes aesthetic thought as the key research point, creative practice as the verification . Besides that , it also thoroughly and systematically analyses Xu Wei' s numerous creative aesthetic thoughts on the pattern of opera theory , opera origin , opera forms . opera production and aesthetic opera ideals , etc , so as to show his creative spirit and great achievement, and give him a proper historical judgement, thus enriching our ancient traditional opera theory, reflecting and promoting the creation of current opera .Xu Wei created a new opera theory style in Nan Ci Xu Lu, in which theoretical criticism and kept material could not only stand alone respectively and but also prove each other. He made up his mind to get to the root of the matter and ardently-confirmed that southern drama was developed from the voice of countryside. Contrary to the common opinion , he pointed out that northern operas also came from the countryside ; then he went on to appreciate and remark their different aesthetic styles fairly . He held Kunshan melodies in high esteem , though it was not popular among the contemporaries . He revolted against the orthodox and bravely confirmed the folk arts, all of these expressed his conceptions of the popular opera culture. He extended the cannotation of inherent quality which started with the aesthetic acceptance that servants, children and women should be able to understand the opera. He regarded the genuine feelings as the foundation stone, simplicity as the core so as to set up his aesthetic opera ideals which characterized in multilevel and deep implication. As to the forms and key elements of the operas, such as the tone, monologue, stage action, etc., he was able to surpass his predecessors and proceeded to explain with theories. He did a large amount of practice in writing. He believed that there were no set rules for the tone; words should be valued by its inherent quality; the monologue was just like a honored guest, which should be popular and genuine; the role of the stage actions lie heavily on the performance. All of these promised the approaching of the conceptions of the new operas. He also realized his creative conceptions of the opera with his irrefutable opera works and brought the prosperity to the later creation of the short opera. All his aesthetic opera conceptions and artistic contribution nourished many later opera theorists and writers, so it has far-reaching influence.
