Men Fa Shi Zu (the families of power and influence) prospered in Wei, Jin and the Southern and Northern Dynasties. Marriage was a important means for bachelor family to solidify family status. Royal marriages in the Eastern Jin and Southern Dynasties were important parts of bachelor families' marriages. The study of them helps to explain the historic change of politics, bachelors and bachelors' ideas. This essay probes into vicissitudes of royal marriages, factors to affect royal marriages, relation between royal marriages and politics and relation between royal marriages and marriage culture. The purpose is to illustrate that family status and character talent were important to bachelors' marriages, that family status marriages and marriage system inside status broke down, that politics of powerful families turned to politics of imperial power, that bachelors comparatively waned. This article also tells the personality liberty , the decadence of Confucianism and many ideological trends in the times. Those propositions also have explained that the study takes a little meaning on the study of Wei, Jin and the Southern and Northern Dynasties.
