American female writer Fannie Flagg's novel Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe and Chinese female writer Wan Fang's Nothing in the Mirror have received the readers' recognition and great praise. Their creative works manifest their concern for women's fate as well as their living circumstances from their own perspective of being female. On the theoretical basis of transcultural comparative analysis and feminist criticism, the author intends to make comparisons of images, individualities and experiences of the women characters in these two novels, to delve into their female consciousness and awakening in two different social and cultural backgrounds, and to explore how social attitudes influence women's writing. By comparison of the two books, we will find that modern western civilization enables Fannie to freely describe the female characters, who are obviously provided with rebelling feminist characteristics, outstanding personality and great charm, which fills the western readers with admiration. However, as the Chinese traditional female virtues and social moral concepts are well established in mind, Wan Fang tells her story based on a compromise between female consciousness and traditional virtues.
