The purpose of the paper is to make the quantitative analysis of the vocabulary of English for computer science (ECS) in comparison with the College English Band6 (CEB6) words. This study focuses on the formative features of CET6 and non-CET6 (out of CEB6) words whose occurrence is above the average frequency.The completion of the research and the results herein obtained involves much application of the computer software such as SNOBOL4 and FOXPRO. The results the related analysis clearly shows that CEB6 vocabulary are still the core of English for computer science and some of CEB6 words acquire special meanings when applied in ECS. The data also shows that there are a great number of non-CET6 words whose frequency is above average. So in order to master the vocabulary of English for computer science,it is necessary for learners to study those non-CET6 especially those special terms related to computer science. Based on the results of the research,the paper puts forward some pieces of suggestion on efficient teaching and learning of English for computer science.
