The context exerts constraints on meaning, negligence of which may lead to misunderstanding and mistranslation.Based on the criticism of the criterion "Faithfulness" in the traditional translation studies and an introduction of Deconstruction, this thesis proposes some principles in translation practice by which the translator should abide, i.e., the translation criteria in the context study: (D conforming to the objectivity of knowledge; (2) rationality of understanding and validity of interpretation; (3) consistency with the context of the original text. This thesis falls into six chapters. Chapter One is a general survey of context study. And for discussion purpose, we classify context into linguistic context/co-text and situational context and cultural context.Chapter Two deals with the important part the context plays in literary translation.Chapter Three focuses on the criticism of "Faithfulness" and an introduction of Deconstruction. From Chapter Four to Chapter Six, we systematically analyze linguistic context, situational context and cultural context trough examples. Finally, as the conclusion of this thesis, we restate that we should abandon "Faithfulness" and bear Deconstruction in our mind hi the process of translation. And we tentatively propose some principles in translation practice.
